What is IBCLC?
International Board Certified Lactation Consultants function and contribute as members of the maternal-child health team. Working together with mothers, families and healthcare teams, IBCLC certificants provide expert breastfeeding and lactation care, promote changes that support breastfeeding and help reduce the risks of not breastfeeding.
Do I need an IBCLC? Whether you are experienced in breastfeeding, or this will be your first attempt, a certified lactation consultant come help you prepare, address concerns, and educate. Some of their experience includes:
-Positioning and latching issues
-Weighing before and after feeding
-Sore nipples
-Weaning from nipple shields or other interventions
-Transitioning from bottle to breast
